Author’s Profile

Victor Sterling is a pen name. He grew up in a poor family and attended public elementary and high schools where tuition was free. From an early age, he learned that improving one’s circumstances requires hard work, sacrifice, and determination.

During his fourth year of high school, Victor asked himself a difficult question: What could he do to escape poverty and build a better future? He did not have all the answers, but he knew education could open doors. He asked relatives for financial assistance and took side jobs to help pay for his university education.

His efforts paid off. Victor earned a four-year bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and graduated cum laude. Then came what he still considers a miracle. Just five days before graduation, his marketing professor asked whether he would like to work as a bookkeeper for a businessman friend. Victor accepted the opportunity, beginning his professional career before he even received his diploma.

Victor later enrolled in a two-year Master of Arts in Economics program and received a full scholarship for the first year because of his academic achievement. After completing that year, his company assigned him to a regional office far from the university, making it impossible for him to finish the second year. He learned that life does not always follow the plan, but setbacks do not have to end the journey.

Over a career spanning more than 40 years, Victor worked as a bookkeeper, casino auditor, systems analyst, financial analyst, and assistant controller for casinos and real estate companies in Las Vegas, Nevada. These positions gave him practical experience in accounting, financial analysis, business operations, and financial decision-making.

Throughout his career, Victor learned about and applied the 12 core areas of personal finance, including money management, banking and savings, loans and debt management, real estate investing, stocks and bonds, and taxation. For him, these were not merely textbook subjects. They were lessons tested through real work, personal decisions, and years of experience.

When Victor got married, he and his wife rented an apartment in Las Vegas, Nevada. After five years, they purchased a modest three-bedroom, two-bath townhouse, where they raised their two sons. This was an important milestone in their journey toward building a stable family life.

Seven years later, Victor purchased a two-bedroom, two-bath condominium as a rental property and investment. After holding the property for ten years, he sold it at a profit. Rather than simply spending the proceeds, he used the profit to purchase a 1.2-hectare farm in cash for investment and future business development.

Victor and his family continued living in their townhouse, where they remain to this day. His real estate experience reflects a practical financial lesson: with careful decisions, patience, and a long-term perspective, an investment can help create opportunities for future investments and business ventures.

After retiring at age 62, he established a home-based bookkeeping and tax preparation business, where he served as an IRS PTIN-registered tax preparer and renewed his registration each year while he operated the business. He also drove for Uber and Lyft to earn additional income.

In addition, Victor developed his agricultural property into a farming venture. He grows high-value vegetables, including hot chili peppers, for commercial production and raises a few farm animals to provide food for his household.

His activities after retirement reflect his belief that retirement can be more than a period of rest. It can also be a new chapter for entrepreneurship, productive work, learning, and personal growth.

While managing his farm, Victor created www.MoneyWealthGuide.com to share his personal and professional experiences with readers around the world.

His mission is to make personal finance easier to understand and apply in everyday life. Through his website, he shares practical lessons about overcoming financial difficulties, managing money wisely, increasing income, controlling expenses, reducing debt, building savings, investing in assets, and preparing for a more secure future.

Victor believes that financial progress does not depend solely on how much a person earns. It also depends on how money is managed, how financial decisions are made, and how consistently a person works toward long-term goals.

His life journey—from growing up in poverty to earning a university degree, building a professional career, raising a family, purchasing real estate, investing in agricultural land, and pursuing business opportunities after retirement—illustrates the value of perseverance, discipline, and continuous learning.

Victor is now writing a series of books covering the 12 core areas of personal finance.
